Hi

Just to say a local GP comes in with his practice nurse and runs the clinic and does all the work and it's free.

All we do is put up a poster asking those who want it to come and be put on the list. We then let them know how many want it. They use the first aid room.... I book it on my day off so doesn't affect me at all.

Hi Rachel
Great advice Carr,

In my experience its far cheaper for the company to pay someone to come in and do the staff who want it!
Your time and budget is best served delivering/promoting OH rather than vaccinating a healthy population....different matter if it is a pandemic!

Do they realise that during the flu campaign the OH dept will be completely overstretched and unable to see OH cases?

Cost each of your hours spent trying to get information, write protocols, train staff, buy equipment, publicise etc etc ...then compare with the cost of a company.

Much easier to have a company send you a flyer or web link for you (or preferably your PR/marketing/IT dept) to send to all staff.

My advice?

Don't do it! It's a huge resource drain on OH (taking calls of interest, organising and planning and then doing for quite a number of weeks on end - usually at least 4) and the business in general with no evidence based impact on absence rates (that I am aware of) and in someplaces has been found to result in absence with people taking the day off afterwards for "feeling fluey". If it is something the employer wants to do as a TLC move then try to arrange to get a whole package in e.g. a well being bus who park up on site and do it all for you. All you need to do then is make the call to get them in.

Hi All

I am looking into setting up a Seasonal Flu Immunisation Programme.

I have found valuable guidance in 'The Green Book'.  Is there any other
guidance/legislation that I should be aware of before I begin the process?

Just out of interest are there any colleges who offer this service?

Many thanks in advance

Rachel
