I have not said where I am in the UK or what industry or anything that can identify him

Dawn Veal 01579 370665? South West area?

30 seconds on Google

I reckon I could find out the identity of this individual within a very short time - Given he has almost certainly a borderline personality disorder I would ask the mods to pull this thread and perhaps repost more generically as it is an interesting one

Thanks Sharon,

I have seen a lot worse things bantered on here and I thought this was an OH support forum. I have not said where I am in the UK or what industry or anything that can identify him. Can't believe this is some peoples way of supporting colleagues....Thanks to those who have given advice and for those who feel superior to the rest and make no mistakes lets hope it continues like that for you all but if you ever need support remember what you have written to me. In an OH role it is isolating enough without comments I have seen today. There is a saying 'walk a mile in my shoes before you judge'...

Might not have been the best idea in the world but this (IMHO) is an example of a colleague who has obviouisly been rattled by a difficult case, and wanted some support and guidance . Which one of us hasnt at at least one point in our career?

Dawn, I am appalled by the language you have used to describe this case on a public forum, it is unprofessional and potentially goes against our code of conduct. Regards karen Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless device

Hi All,

Just to say I didn't send the manager the GP report just feedback the relevant information as the issues raised had been related to H & S potential exposure and potential risk to health ie breathing and skin. The GP had said nothing significant to pass to employee hence why I did not see him as he was deemed fit for role with no adjustments restrictions.

The glass of wine has been had....

It grates to have poeple who just play the odds to make money when there are some people who have genuine wk related issues where real negligence is caused and people like him are using the no win no fee bloodhounds to fund these claims.I came into OH as my Dad died of Mesothemioma and wanted to educate and improve peoples health but scumbags like this make me mad!

I avoid contact with him as much as possible as he sees it as confirmation he has issues. He has but they are not wk related.....

Thanks for your comments it helps. Yes I had consent verbal written more than once.... he had a chance to see report yet refused. He switches and changes his mind back and forth so much I can't keep up. The story keep changing.

Ta all Have a good un...

Dawn

Chilling with a glass of wine does sound like great advice :-)

Happy weekend everyone.

oooo can you feel the tension rising in the initial mail? Is ar** a technical term I wonder? Bless you this did make me giggle, but in a sympathetic way.

The way I read this is that you prepared a report based on your findings and the further reports you got from Prof C and the GP? You gave this to the manager. I cant imagine that you would have sent the manager the medical reports? Most OH get people back in to discuss the contents of any FME before they send out a further report (this is contained within faculty /BMA guidance) so technically I suppose he has a gripe, its also good practise to tell people what you are going to say, so the contents of your report arent a shock but if there was nothing to discuss then I cant see that its a hanging offence, maybe just an oversight (and I can understand why you perhaps would want to avoid meeting with him unless absolutely necessary)

Let him get on with the grievance, I have had so many taken out against me I have lost count (and all of them from people who sound like they could be related to your guy). What does he want as a result of this process? I believe he has to say what outcome he wants, he probably hasnt thought of one yet. My advice, chill, have a glass of wine, on Monday make sure all documentation /notes are up to speed, talk to the RCN, look at the faculty guidelines, come home Monday night and chalk it up to experience. I dare say this wont be your last case along these lines..............

Did you send the man's manager the GP report?

The way it's done where I work is to get the client back in once the GP report has been received.  The report is then reviewed with the client and a follow-up report provided to the manager.  The GP (or specialist) report doesn't get passed on to the manager.

I would imagine if the GP report has gone to the manager, theoretically, the report could then be passed to the company's insurer who may in turn be looking at reviewing potential payouts to the man...

> Since approx 20 months ago and before I came he started firstly saying he had a wk related rash, then it came and went. put his hand in a small puddle of diluted detergent 50:1 ratio that he claimed caused burns ( he walked past 3 basins he could rinse it in to show his manager before he rinsed it) it was neither burns only red and no lasting damage but no photos taken. then he decided to up the anti to say he smelt something in his work area, felt dizzy and stumbled outside and threw himself on his chest saying he couldn't breath. An overzealous first aider initiated a crisis and the whole caboodle of fire, ambulance and police turned up!. He went to hospital as the ambulance was there and was discharged home less than 2 hours later as fit.
> I got Paul Cullinan to see him who thought as I do he's 'strange man' and he has been cleared as fit and well. I wrote as good measure to ask his GP if he had any ongoing health issues that might affect him at work. Answer was no but he did say that he had had wk related dermatitis in the past which he didn't disclose to us.

> He put in a letter re his manager at Xmas saying he felt victimised and today he has sent a letter saying he weants to raise a greivance against me as I had not gone through the GP letter with him before I sent out the report to his manager who then went through it with him.

In most cases they even know the report before its sent as I do it with them there so its all in the open. Its on the notes and they signed the referral and consent.....what more can you do. If theres nothing to change would you have seen him???
