Please see the email below from Deb Davis re the Virtual IMD. It was a great event last year and looks like it will be even better this year. Please consider putting in an EoI to be part of the day and sending this to others as well!

Hi Caroline, we are calling for EOI to present at the virtual international Day of the Midwife. Would you be able to circulate to students and staff? Could be good practice for anyone presenting at ICM!
cheers
Deb
Virtual International Day of the Midwife
The Virtual International Day of the Midwife (VIDM) started with humble beginnings in 2009. Sarah Stewart (Otago Polytechnic, New Zealand and Griffith University, Australia) and Deborah Davis (ACT Health and Canberra University) both midwives, saw an opportunity to extend midwifery networks globally using a variety of electronic media. In two short years the E-vent has become a significant event in the midwifery calendar attracting a large and enthusiastic international audience. Participants and presenters came from as far afield as; Romania, Tunisia, Pakistan, Canada, UK, USA, Netherlands, Switzerland and of course, Australia and New Zealand. Last year the E-vent was launched with a video by Bridget Lynch, President of the International Confederation of Midwives.
The Virtual International Day of the Midwife (VIDM) celebrates the International Day of the Midwife by bringing midwives and others from across the globe together using online electronic media. Online events are presented every hour for 24hrs on the 5th May starting at 12pm New Zealand time and may include;
Past presentations can be found at
http://internationaldayofthemidwife.wikispaces.com.
It has been interesting to hear of the variety of ways that participants experienced the E-vent. Some participants logged-in by themselves on their home computer and many attended a large number of sessions. Other’s joined with colleagues and friends for a
shared experience, setting up a computer and a projector screen at home or even in the ward tea room. This is a very cost effective way of networking with colleagues internationally and gaining exposure to the issues and literature impacting on maternity services
worldwide.
The organising committee are now calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) to present at the VIDM eVent. While the EOI must be in English we welcome presentations in other languages. We also welcome EOI from non-midwives and midwifery students. Presenters need not be experienced in using electronic media - members of the organising committee will be able to give support.
Please provide a short paragraph (no more than 150 words) describing your presentation and the form it will take (for example a PowerPoint presentation, live or email discussion, video, photographic slide show, story-telling session). Please also include your status (e.g. midwife, non-midwife, midwifery student), country of origin and language of presentation. Your presentations or resources should;
If you would like to give a live presentation, please indicate what time and time zone you are available in your EOI.
Please note: We will be using the web-conferencing platform Elluminate. All live sessions will be facilitated by an experienced online facilitator
so you will be supported at every stage.
Please submit your EOI by 11th March 2011 by;
