Cilip CIG visit to Anthropology Library 5th May 2011

The Anthropology Library is part of the Centre for Anthropology of the British Museum and holds one of the world's major anthropological collections. The Library contains approximately 120,000 books and pamphlets, 4,000 journal titles, a pictorial collection of over 150,000 photographs and other visual material, microforms, maps, sound recordings, newsletters and congress reports.  

The visit starts at 10.00am and will finish by 12.00pm. The visit will concentrate on the types of cataloguing encountered at the Museum but will also include a tour of the library. There is a lift to the Centre for Anthropology, via the north entrance in Montague Place but there is no wheelchair access to the basements that form part of the tour.

There will be a maximum number of 15 visitors allowed on this visit.
