Dear all I'm drafting a training needs analysis questionnaire for our health board staff in an attempt to ascertain which areas we should concentrate our efforts when running/designing library training sessions. This will focus mainly on database searching, but also ejournal access, library catalogue, accessing library services such as document delivery, tools such as Refworks, and critical appraisal. I need to come up with a list of competencies, or basic tasks/steps, that someone would need to know in order to carry out these tasks. The plan is to ask users how relevant these competencies are to their role, and how confident they feel in carrying out the tasks. Has anyone done a training needs analysis in this area? I'd love to see how you went about it if so. Alternatively, is anyone aware of any work that has already been done in terms of identifying competencies for information literacy/information skills, for any healthcare staff group? I'm looking for something a bit more detailed than the relevant KSF dimensions. Thanks for your help. Will summarise any replies for the list.
