How on earth do I remove myself from the mailing list - these (to me unrelevant) messages are driving me crazy!

Hi,

I've responded directly to save you the essay, but for the sake of the list though, I've had lots of problems.

I recommend that anyone having problems with the standard of cleaning, particularly involving the wiping of surfaces, that you get in touch with your facilities manager (or your equivalent) the person in charge of cleaning services. Chances are they are unaware of the lack of cleaning going on in the library and they should be able to do something.

From my experience because we are not a clinical ward, the cleaning company thinks that it will go unnoticed so definitely worth flagging up with the appropriate people. It did take some effort and chasing, but it has since improved, apart from when a cleaner goes off sick or leaves, our surfaces get wiped daily, the carpet area gets hoovered twice a week and bins get emptied daily. We also have a cleaning audit every 6 weeks to check it's being done, which I sometimes have to remind them admittedly, but it happens.

Best wishes,

Emma

Dear Leanne, etc.,

Mine is a small library, combining 'library' and 'office': the cleaner comes into the whole building daily [more or less] and hoovers [judging by the displacement of anything around the plug !] and empties bins. Not much else is done in the library. I would think it reasonable to expect flat surfaces, if left reasonably clear, to be dusted down in a daily clean - that is no more than office standards, where the usual issue was that the surface had to be 'clear' to be cleaned.

My library is used for groups, meetings, etc., and I do find that I need to check the desk surface, and if 'spotty' wipe it myself. I am not housewifely enough to have dusted all the shelves when I did a 'book move' - I thought about it, but only part way through, so didn't do it !

Subject: Library cleanliness

Good morning,

With a view to the current bigger picture surrounding libraries I am aware that my question may sound trite, but I would appreciate some information.

There has been an ongoing issue with the standard of cleaning in the library here (actual library space not library office) and yesterday someone informed me that bar Hoovering and emptying the bins (on a weekly basis) any other cleaning/dusting duties in the actual library should be done by library staff.

I would be grateful for any information regarding library cleaning- does your library get cleaned? If so, by whom and what exactly gets cleaned and how often?

I have worked out that to clean the desks/study booths/tops of shelves and relevant trunking etc would take me about 1 ½ hours.

Thanks in advance,

Leanne (currently not wearing a tabard)
