Lecturer in Neuroimaging (Fixed-term)

 

 

Applications are invited for the above post in the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at NUI, Galway. The postholder will take a lead role in the development and management of the Clinical Neuroimaging Laboratory within the School of Medicine, which specialises in the analysis of MRI data (http://www.nuigalway.ie/psychiatry/research/neuroimaging_lab/index.html). The post-holder will support and supervise students and junior research staff and assist in advancing the psychiatry research program. Support will also be provided for the candidate to develop his or her own research interests. Candidates should have, or be close to obtaining, a PhD or equivalent research degree and have substantial experience in neuroimaging research, including structural and/or functional MRI analysis. Expertise with statistical and computational methods for neuroimaging analysis (incl. UNIX/Linux, Matlab, SPM, FSL) is important.

 

The Discipline of Psychiatry at NUIG has an active collaborative research program focusing upon health services and neuroscience research, with a particular focus on the investigation of neurobiological risk factors and neuroimaging abnormalities associated with major psychotic and affective disorders. The Clinical Neuroimaging Laboratory specialises in the analysis of structural MRI and DTI datasets and is involved in a number of ongoing projects in collaboration with research centres in Dublin and the UK, as well as locally acquired MRI and DTI data from University Hospital Galway.

 

The appointment is for a 12 month contract term which will commence in March 2011
