Our Mission is to empower asylum seekers, refugees, deportees, IDPs and host communities in Uganda to enjoy their human rights and lead dignified lives. We are seeking; 1) Project Officer (1) to assist in development of special projects and implementation of program activities within the Research and Advocacy department, ensure scheduling and phasing of project activities, assist with research, documentation of best practices and writing/editing short articles, press releases and other materials. S/he should be able to demonstrate field research experience as well as group facilitation skills, and be conversant with concepts of Forced Migration, Transitional Justice, gender, masculinities, sexual & gender based violence and Conflict sensitivity. Proof of published works is an added advantage. A Masters degree in a related field with three years relevant experience is desirable 2) Video Advocacy Assistant (1) to participate in the production of video documentaries and other products for the organization for local and international use. S/he should possess a University degree in Mass Communication (with a bias in broadcast journalism), Development Studies, Social Sciences, Arts, or related field. Progressive professional training in video production may be considered. Two years experience in film production/video production is desirable 3) Data Analyst (1) to ensure that all data collected by RLP in the course of its research work and service provision is of high quality and integrity; to analyse quantitative and qualitative data; to assist in the effective presentation of the data output, including drafting of reports. S/he should be conversant with data analysis softwares like SPSS, Epidata, N-Vivo etc. Good team-working skills are essential, and a Degree in Social Sciences or Economics with three years relevant experience is desirable. Experience working with refugees in the Great Lakes region will be an added advantage. 4) SGBVP Officer (1) to join the existing SGBV/P team in management of the social, medical and psychosocial issues faced by refugee clients who are survivors of Sexual & Gender Based Violence and Persecution. Planning, developing and implementing client care and communication strategies through building strong partnerships. To include identification, documentation, direct counselling and support to individuals, households and groups, referrals, networking and training in gender issues. S/he should have demonstrated counselling, group facilitation, networking skills, as well as deep familiarity with issues of sexual violence, sexual rights, stigma and discrimination. Experience working with refugees is an added advantage, as are language skills in any of the following: Swahili, French, Lingala, Kirundi, Kinyarwanda, etc. 5) Personal Assistant (1) to work with the Director and Management Team in managing appointments, correspondence, travel arrangements, briefings and updates, logistics. S/he must have strong computer literacy, demonstrated administrative experience, excellent people and networking skills, strong attention to detail, and a strong personal commitment to human rights and social justice. A social science degree with an administration component will be an added advantage, as will language skills (particularly Swahili) and a valid driving permit. 6) Assessment Officer (1) to oversee assessment of all clients to RLP to determine clients’ needs. Ensuring clients are advised about where best to access services sought and consequent referrals to the same. Ensure registration of clients onto the Client Management System (CMS) including update of clients’ electronic files, photographs, electronic filing of documents. S/he must be a trained in Law or Social Sciences. Language skills in French, Swahili are an added advantage. 7) Trainee Assessment Assistants (2) to carry out assessment of all clients to RLP to determine their needs. Advising clients about where best to access services sought and consequent referrals to the same. Carry registration of clients onto the Client Management System (CMS) including update of clients’ electronic files, photographs, electronic filing of documents. This positions are open to Final year law or Social Science students. 8) Volunteer Lawyer – Durable Solutions (2) to conduct assessment and interviews of RSD clients, draft requests for review of cases and appeals; and formulate recommendations for decisions in accordance with the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and court where necessary. S/he should be an advocate of the High court of Uganda and must be conversant with the international, regional law and Human Rights. 9) Volunteer Lawyer – Access to Justice (2) to be involved in intake of refugee claims, representation of refugees and asylums seekers before the courts and other relevant agencies. S/he should be an advocate of the High Court of Uganda.
