************************************************************************************* Workshop on Software Product Line Development in Dynamic Adaptive Environments (SDAE @ ECOOP 2011) Call for Papers http://www.comp.lancs.ac.uk/~noppen/sdae2011/ to be held in conjunction with ECOOP 2011: European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming 2011 http://ecoop11.comp.lancs.ac.uk/ July 25, 2011 Lancaster United Kingdom ************************************************************************************* *DESCRIPTION* With the increasing demand for software systems in a large variety of environments, software companies need to minimise development time and effort to remain competitive. Over the years, systematic reuse by means of component technology have become the staple means to attain these goals. In particular Software Product Lines (SPL) have become a popular and effective means to effectively support families of software products. However, SPLs are expected to provide reuse opportunities for a prolonged period of time. This longevity exposes the SPL to a massively dynamic and adaptive environment as requirements specifications evolve, new development techniques are introduced and new reuse opportunities surface. This requires a new type of SPL that can dynamically respond to such changes, both from the set of products it supports as well as the actual SPL infrastructure itself. This workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners in the field of SPL development in dynamic adaptive environments. We solicit the submission of novel research on how SPL development can best address these ever changing influences. We also invite submissions of experience reports from industry on the causes, consequences and success stories of dealing with SPL development in dynamic adaptive environments. *TOPICS OF INTEREST* The topics of the workshops include (but are not limited to) the following: - Variability identification (static/dynamic) - Variability representation (static/dynamic) - Variability implementation (static/dynamic) - Variability reasoning (static/dynamic) - Managing runtime variants - Aspect-oriented modeling for runtime variability - Self-management - Dynamic variability management - Models for changes and uncertainty - Product line architecture for runtime variability *IMPORTANT DATES* + Workshop paper submission deadline: 15 April, 2011 (23:59 Apia, Samoa time) + Author Notification: 20 May, 2011 + Workshop full program disseminated: 25 May, 2011 + SDAE @ ECOOP 2011: 25 July, 2011 *WORKSHOP FORMAT* The workshop will be a one day event aimed at stimulating discussion between presenters, discussants and other participants. After a paper has been presented, it is discussed by two pre- assigned discussants, after which a free discussion with all participants follows. The workshop is concluded with a discussion among all participants to identify key research problems and areas to form a research agenda for the community. This program will be complemented with an opening keynote an informal interaction possibilities during coffee breaks and lunch. *SUBMISSION GUIDELINES AND REVIEW* Prospective participants are invited to submit a 3-8 page position paper in standard ACM SIG Proceedings format (http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedingstemplates). All papers must be submitted in PDF format. All submissions will be reviewed by members of the program committee and the organising committee for quality and relevance to ECOOP. Each paper will be reviewed by at least 3 reviewers. Accepted papers will be published on the workshop website. Submissions should be sent to sdae[at]gmail.com. *PRELIMINARY PROGRAM COMMITTEE* Mehmet Aksit, University of Twente (the Netherlands) Bedir Tekinerdogan, Bilkent University (Turkey) Jon Whittle, Lancaster University (United Kingdom) Nelly Bencomo, Lancaster University (United Kingdom) Philippe Lahire, University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (France) Johann Bourcier, University of Rennes (France) Gilles Perrouin, University of Namur (Belgium) Thorsten Keuler, Fraunhofer IESE (Germany) Others to be announced *ORGANIZING COMMITTEE* + Jaejoon Lee, Lancaster University (United Kingdom) + Dirk Muthig, Lufthansa Systems (Germany) + Brice Morin, Norway (Norway) + Joost Noppen, Lancaster univeristy (United Kingdom) -- ____________________________________________ Joost Noppen Computing Department InfoLab21 South Drive Lancaster University Lancaster LA1 4WA UK Phone: +44 (0) 1524 510347 Mail: [log in to unmask] Skype: joost.noppen Web: http://www.comp.lancs.ac.uk/~noppen/ ____________________________________________
