I am looking for a reference to research showing that invasive placebos (injections, sham surgeries) elicit a stronger placebo response than less invasive ones (lotions, pills). I've heard multiple times that this is so, but I can't seem to find a reference. I've searched PubMed, but haven't found anything. I am not sure I'm using the optimal search terms. Does anyone have a suggestion? (either on a source or where/how to look?) thanks, Christie Aschwanden
