Dear All

Can any one advise if alternative examinations should be offered as a reasonable adjustment for a student who has high functioning autism. Context we have a student on a foundation degree who has failed 3 multi choice examinations. The student is answering correctly then changing his correct answer. The student has the following:
1. Provision for 25% extra time.
2. Provision for separate room not sharing with other students.
3. 1-1 study skills with a focus on exam technique.

The family have spoken with the EP that they commissioned privately what advice he would offer about multi choice. The answer that the EP gave is as that he knew nothing specific about this and everyone is different. Answer from NAS they knew nothing specific, but advised that the Equality Act 2010 requires that people are assessed in a manner that does not disadvantage them (family wording).

All replies welcome.

Thanks.
Heather
