Dear all,

There's still time to make a nomination for the SLA Europe Information Professional Award 2011! The deadline has been extended to 14 March 2011.

Please see below for more details, and how to make a nomination:

SLA Europe is on the hunt for an inspiring and innovative information professional, to claim an expenses-paid trip to Philadelphia for the 2011 SLA Conference.

Nominations are now being accepted for the SLA Europe Information Professional Award for 2011. This award recognises outstanding information professionals working in Europe.

The current award holder is Dr Geoff Walton, Academic Skills Tutor Librarian and Research-informed Teaching Project Co-ordinator at Staffordshire University in Stoke-in-Trent, England. Geoff said:
“This award gave me so many opportunities it’s difficult to know where to start…. It gave me the chance to attend and, through invited presentations, share my ideas at the SLA Annual Conference in New Orleans and Online in London; to have professional conversations with colleagues from all over the world; raise my profile in the information community and make many new contacts with people who share my interests in information literacy and social media, oh… and it helped me get a new job as a Senior Researcher.”

The winner will receive an expenses-paid trip to the SLA Conference in Philadelphia, 12-15 June 2011. As well as the trip to the Conference, the winner will be invited to support SLA Europe’s activities, including speaking at events, and contributing to the blog and podcasts.

Past winners of the award include Gimena Campos Cervera (US Embassy, Rome), Janet Hopkins (Drueker, Germany), Marie-Madeleine Salmon, (Publicis, France), Will Hann (Freepint, UK) and Annabel Colley (BBC, UK).

Self-nominations are welcome! If the winner is not self-nominated, their nominator will be given a magnum of champagne, to toast their success.

Nominees should be an established member of the information profession, living and working in Europe; they do not have to be a member of SLA. Further information and the nomination form can be found on the SLA Europe website at http://www.sla-europe.org/awards/european-information-professional-award/ip-nominations/.
