Digital Resources – What Teachers Want!– 9th June 2011 at The National Archives, London

 

Are you involved in, or considering development of online resources for use by teachers in the classroom?

 

Thinking about evaluating existing or planned projects?

 

This event offers you a pragmatic overview of the issues involved

 

What will it offer? A practical overview of key topics including:

 

  1. Case studies looking at designing resources for specific audiences and contexts
  2. How teachers use digital resources
  3. Top tips for evaluation and an overview of methodologies
  4. About creating resources for interactive whiteboards
  5. The opportunity to network and share ideas with colleagues

We are looking for case studies which are reflective and give delegates the opportunity to learn from your successes and lessons learnt!

1035 – 11.45             What do Teachers Want?  - using digital resources in the classroom –  two teachers give top tips of what works for them – opportunity for Q&A

11.45 – 12.00            Comfort break

12.00 – 12.45            Crit room – a panel including teachers (using volunteers from the audience to navigate the sites) comment on websites designed for use in schools.         

12.45 – 13.00            Digital Learning Network for Museums, Libraries and Archives AGM.

1300 – 14.00                       Lunch at The National Archives (13.20-14.00 Lunch byte exhibitors eg Promethean, Smartboard, Futurelab tbc)

14.00 – 15.30            Developing resources

14.00 – 14.30            Case study 1 – The National Archives – Andrew Payne and Claire Horrie talk about the development of a new Victorian resource for primary schools which is highly interactive, has both online resources and downloadable whiteboard material and adopts a particular pedagogic approach to getting primary children to carry out historical enquiries by working directly with primary source material.
