Vacancy for Statistician/Reviewer Kleijnen Systematic Reviews (KSR) Ltd is an independent research company that produces and disseminates systematic reviews and health technology assessments of research evidence in health care. KSR was established in 2005 and is based in modern offices south of Escrick, York. As a result of expansion we are now looking to recruit a statistician/reviewer to join our busy team. The post holder will be responsible for carrying out systematic reviews and health technology assessments, for providing statistical advice and support to others working on systematic reviews and performing meta-analysis. It is desirable that the candidate has experience in preparing systematic reviews, as well as a thorough knowledge of the methodology of primary patient based research. A thorough knowledge of relevant statistical methods, for example meta-analysis and meta-regression analysis, is also essential as well as experience of using Stata. The ability to perform mixed treatment comparison meta-analysis in Winbugs would be an advantage. The post holder must have some experience of health services research and a disciplinary background of statistics, clinical epidemiology, health economics or psychology. If the post holder does not have a PhD, they may work on a PhD programme as part of their employment. Good communication skills, both oral and written are essential. An understanding of the health field and the NHS is essential. Duties of the Posts to Include: . Undertaking systematic reviews carried out within KSR Ltd. Systematic reviews are commissioned from a variety of sources, for example the Department of Health, leading pharmaceutical companies and other government agencies in both the UK and Europe. . Providing statistical support and advice to others working on systematic reviews. . Providing a statistical peer review service to journals. . Carrying out any aspect of systematic reviews or health technology assessments. KSR Ltd is a small company and the job holder is required to be flexible about taking on any task that is required for the completion of high quality work against deadlines. . Contributing to the development of proposals for funding of projects. . Participating in regular meetings with other staff; consideration of possible systematic reviews KSR Ltd might prepare in response to requests from commissioners or tenders, and liaison with review commissioners. . Participating in the dissemination activity of KSR Ltd. This might involve, for example, preparing journal articles and representing KSR Ltd at conferences, seminars, training courses and other external events. . Training internal and external people in the conduct of systematic reviews and statistical methods. We are looking for people who are enthusiastic, committed and able to produce consistently high quality work within tight deadlines.
