This was also featured prominently on BBC news this morning and had reps from Diabetes
It is a real shame that they did not have a representative from one of our learned professional bodies. Perhaps the RCPath, ACB or IBMS
should respond officially?

Subject: Re: Which? report on self-test kits
I recently attended a "Health for All" day organised locally. Here you could find out about allowances, equipment, fitness, organisations and healthcare charities
etc and our friendly local Pharmacist was there, offering blood glucose and cholesterol testing. After watching her struggle for blood for a few minutes, I had to introduce myself and offer some advice, largely that her technique was incorrect and that the
lancet she was using was not the correct size to obtain enough blood for a cholesterol. This was rectified and I was asked if I would go in and show her staff "how to do it properly"! The meter companies send educators in but they often assume previous practical
experience which is not the case. Demonstrating using quality control solutions is not the same as trying to get blood out of an elderly person with poor peripheral cicrulation.

“All Boots pharmacists are fully trained and qualified to deal with all aspects of home testing kit use.”
How and by whom? Do we see them on the HPC register as Biomedical or Clinical Scientists?
