Hello,
I was hoping others with more comprehensive French skills might be
able to help me with the translation of a phrase from an article.

The article is Depreux M. R. and Muller, P. (1953) Differenciation
radiologique des os humains et animaux, Trav 26 Congr Int de Med Leg,
pp 204-212.

The phrase is "fuseau marginal" - my dictionary gives "fuseau" as
meaning "spindle", but I was wondering if someone had another way of
describing it more in context so I could work out what they mean - it
seems to be an important point in the article. Here is the paragraph
where it is mentioned:

"Mais surtout et ceci représente à notre avis le caractère
différentiel essential entre ces radiographies d'os humain foetal et
d'os animaux, on note l'existance chez l'animal d'une zone
périphérique de condensation osseuse distincte du périoste s'étendant
d'une extrémité à l'autre de la diaphyse et constituant une sorte de
fuseau marginal.
Le présence de ce fuseau sur un fragment diaphysaire nous permet d'en
affirmer l'origine animale...."

Merci beaucoup for any help!
