Hi

My name is Javier Sandoval, I’m and architect with a Masters Degree in Architecture and for the last 5 years head of the Urban Planning Department of the Municipal Institute of Urban Research and Planning of Ensenada Mexico.(www.imipens.org). I have recently finished a research Project on an Urban Growth Simulator you can see at:

and you can download the paper at:

This simulator was made with the help of Kent State University and the US Environmental Protection Agency. I’m also the owner of an urban simulation blog at:

www.trazadigital.blogspot.com

that focuses on what is being done in Latin America and Spanish speaking countries, as a way to bring interest on such and exciting field on countries in which such practice is almost non existing. As such, it has some links with this characteristics, but has much more of what is being done in English speaking countries.

I’m very interested in attending the ESSA Summer School 2011 (http://www.simian.ac.uk/courses/essa-summer-school-2011), as I want to use this knowledge as a base to understand urban phenomena of latin America, which is very different from other places in the world. I also want to pass this experiences to my work team here at the Institute. Nevertheless how interested I am in attending, my traveling availability is limited and wanted to know if anyone has information of similar courses that can be taken on-line by other organization (ESSA told me that there are no on-line course at this time by them). Thanks in advanced for any help.
