Mobile Library Festival 2011 will be an international meeting of mobile library people. We invite you with (or without) your vehicles to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Finnish mobile library in the beautiful city of Turku, European Capital of Culture 2011.

The meeting will take place in Hotel Radisson Blu Marina Palace located in the center of Turku. The mobile libraries from various countries will be parked in front of the hotel, by the river Aura, and they will be held open to both the participants of the festival and to the citizens of Turku on Thursday and Friday evenings.

On Thursday evening August 11, the city of Turku celebrates an annual festival The Night of the Arts. The whole town will be full of happenings, music and exhibitions – with thousands of people of all ages attending. We hope to have the mobile libraries open for public till late at night.

The meeting agenda is constructed on the history of the Finnish mobile libraries, on international visions from the East and the West, and on the technical innovations of the past and today.

The main purpose, however, is to meet with one another - to exchange views, experiences and solutions to the problems of our work and to have a few days’ wonderful time together.

The registration fee for the whole event is 180€ (+accommodation and meals). For the drivers driving a mobile library bus to Finland the registration is free of charge.

We wish you warmly welcome to Turku, August 11 – 13, 2011!
