The bottom line, is that these medicals are about crystal ball gazing about child safety. We used to do a functional assessment, to assess risk of an acute health incident: BP, pulse, urinalysis (for glucose), joint mobility (to safely get up and down pavements) and a whisper test (to assess that a child could be heard from behind). We did away with step test and audiometry, on the basis that there were no absolute values for suitabillity for the role. Hope this helps.
