Mobilemeet 7 th May 2011:

Mobile Libraries in an Age of Austerity

County Hall, Matlock

Mobile libraries reach many people who could not access a library service in any other way. To preserve the quality of life in isolated communities, it is essential that mobile libraries are not seen as a soft option for local government cuts. More and more the news is of cost reduction for local authorities, and mobile libraries have to justify their existence in this era of financial restraint. This will be the realistic theme reflected in the programme for the Mobilemeet 2011.

The conference features presentations and an opportunity for discussion of some of the most significant issues facing mobile library services, aimed at the widest possible range of delegates from Members, senior and middle Library Service Managers to Mobile Library Drivers and Assistants.

However, the Mobilemeet is also about celebration and we're hoping to see the best and brightest library vehicles from around the UK. We will also be making our usual awards including the Mobile Library Champion of the Year for the person who has gone that extra mile for their customers.

Please forward this email to the manager of your mobile library service and book now. Don’t forget if you send a mobile to the meeting, vehicle and driver go for free. This is a chance to show off what you do well and to garner ideas from everyone else.

Attached is a booking form and programme.

Hope to see you there!!!
