A postdoctoral position is available in the
laboratory of A/Prof Helen Blanchard at the Institute for Glycomics, Griffith
University, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
Research at Griffith University’s Institute for Glycomics is focused on the study of the glycans (sugars) and glycan-binding proteins in various biological systems, and the design of novel drugs and vaccines. The Institute for Glycomics collaborates with leading scientists around the globe to build a critical mass around carbohydrate-based research in areas of clinically significant diseases.
The postdoctoral research will involve the elucidation and characterisation of protein complexes as part of structure based inhibitor design programs. The main targets being the carbohydrate recognizing proteins of rotavirus, metapneumovirus and galectins.
Experience in macromolecular crystallography and protein-inhibitor interaction analysis is required and a strong interest in structure based drug design.
Experience in molecular biology and biochemistry is desirable.
