The other Beatle here is Ringo Starr, not George Harrison, as the text below shows. Harold Phillips was an RAF ex-serviceman, and returned to the UK on 21 June 1948 on the ship Empire Windrush.

I presume that Trinidadian born Harold Phillips (Lord Woodbine)'s influence on John Lennon meant that the latter was keen to meet Eric Williams and the people on the island, especially those who played steel pans. John was interested in 'pan' as a teenager in Liverpool (late 1950s), and a few his/the Beatles songs include 'the ring of steel' e.g. 'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da' co-written with Paul McCartney (released by The Beatles on their 1968 album The Beatles.
