Gayle Fritz had a large grass that was showing up in samples from the Mississippi Valley.  I'm not sure she was ever able to confirm its identity but you might check w/ her.  If your seed has a fairly deep grove, you might check out wild rice (Zizania).

These are from Terminal Late Archaic and Middle Woodland features from a riverine site adjacent to the lower Tennessee River.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Reminiscent of little barley grass, but way too large.
