Leslie,

Gayle Fritz had a large grass that was showing up in samples from the 
Mississippi Valley.  I'm not sure she was ever able to confirm its 
identity but you might check w/ her.  If your seed has a fairly deep 
grove, you might check out wild rice (Zizania).
