Dear All,
I have had a query form an anaesthetist who wants to do a small study (20-30 patients) to determine the incidence of aspiration events in anaesthetised patients. They are interested in a marker of gastric fluid that would be detectable in tracheal fluid.
Apparently pepsin has been used in other studies – does anyone know of a lab that can measure pepsin (nothing on Assayfinder)?
Any other ideas for suitable markers? They didn’t seem keen on pH as a possibility.

Please reply directly to me;

Best wishes,
