The Campaign for Social Science (CfSS) is holding a series of roadshows. At each event, senior figures from the Academy of Social Sciences will make presentations to outline both the Campaign for Social Science (CfSS) and the associated Development Appeal (www.campaignforsocialscience.org.uk)

 

The first 3 roadshows are:

 
1.    Thursday 3rd February 2011 – North East Region
12:30pm – 2pm, to include light refreshments
Venue: Northumbria University - The Gallery, Squires Building, Sandyford Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8ST
Local Hosts: Professor Peter Golding AcSS, PVC and Professor Irene Hardill AcSS, Membership Secretary, Academy of Social Sciences
(There is also a public seminar at 5pm by Professor Golding:  On Ignorance: some sociological musing on public knowledge and the media in a modern democracy - to which all are also invited.)
 
2.    Tuesday 8th February 2011 – North West Region (invitation letter attached)
12:30pm – 2pm, to include light refreshments
Venue: University of Liverpool – The Hub, Foresight Centre, 1 Brownlow Street, Liverpool, L69 3GL
Local Host: Professor Sir Howard Newby AcSS, Vice Chancellor and President of the Academy of Social Sciences
 
3.    Wednesday 9th February 2011 – Yorkshire and Humberside (invitation letter attached)

12:30pm – 2pm, to include light refreshments
Venue: University of Sheffield – The Conference Room, ICOSS Building, 219 Portobello, Sheffield, S1 4DP
Local Hosts: Professor Keith Burnett, Vice Chancellor, Professor Tony Payne AcSS FPVC and Professor Tony Crook AcSS, former PVC and Chair of the Campaign for Social Science (CfSS)
 
Road shows are also being organised for London, Leicester, Warwick, Essex, Aberdeen, Bath and Cardiff in the coming months.
