Modern Languages is one of the subjects with funding. See the following announcement:

http://www.exeter.ac.uk/postgraduate/money/2011studentships/?subject=25

Non-EU candidates might be especially interested in the ‘International Student Doctoral Awards’:

Unfortunately, there are limited funding opportunities for EU candidates wishing to work in Italian as an independent subject area; however, comparative projects including sections on Italian literature and cinema, as well as other inter-cultural or inter-linguistic projects involving Italian topics, are welcome for any of the themes and research areas mentioned in the announcement.

Application deadline: Fri 11th Feb 2011
