Re: Invitation to participate in an Accessibility focus group with the Open University
Dear Disability Officer,
I’m writing to invite to you take part in a focus group as part of
the European Unified Approach for
Accessible Lifelong Learning (EU4ALL) project at The Open University. EU4ALL is funded under the Research
Framework programme (FP6) of the European Union. EU4ALL incorporates both practical
approaches to the use of technology to mediate the impact of disability and
conceptual frameworks that help to explain the ways in which adaptable
accessibility services can be delivered or supported through the use of digital
technologies.
We are now in the closing stages of the project, and the EU4ALL
team has developed a software prototype that is designed to offer content
personalisation and information services to students with disabilities. We would
like to demonstrate this technology for you, and invite your feedback. The event
will also afford you the chance to find out more about accessibility at The Open
University, as well as a chance to network with disability specialists from
other institutions.
Our focus group will take place on Wednesday, 2 February. All travel expenses with the UK will be
reimbursed in accordance with our institutional guidelines, and a complimentary
lunch will be provided after the session.
Here is the anticipated schedule for the
day.
·
10.30-11.00 am: arrival &
refreshments
·
11.00-12.15 pm: demonstration & focus
group
·
12.30-1.00 pm: lunch
We hope that this itinerary will be convenient for you. If you are able to attend, please email
me via [log in to unmask] to book a space. Places are limited, so please respond promptly if
you wish to take part. If you indicate that you are available, I will provide a
campus map and directions to the venue.
Thank you in advance for your consideration. You can find out more about the EU4ALL
project at http://www.eu4all-project.eu/.
Yours faithfully,
Bethany Alden
