This is Amberhawk’s response to the European Commission’s proposals to change the Directive. The document contains comments on how to make European data protection legislation more effective (e.g. improved definition of “personal data” and “sensitive personal data”, the need to link  Article 8 of the Human Rights regime with the data protection regime, the need for effective supervision of law enforcement agencies and some comments on the implementation of the Accountability Principle.
