SOUTHAMPTON UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS NHS TRUST
BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH UNITS
STATISTICIAN (BAND 7 ) FIXED TERM TO MARCH 2012
£30,460 to £40,157 pa

Closing date for applications 13/01/2011

An exciting new opportunity exists for a new statistician post in the Biomedical Research Units (BRU) in Respiratory Medicine and Nutrition hosted by Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust (SUHT) and the University of Southampton.

Each BRU has a diverse range of research programmes developed by University and SUHT investigators, which require statistical expertise in their development. The postholder will be involved in a wide range of analytical issues related to the individual projects within the BRU and will be hosted by the Hospital Trusts' IM&T department. This has been designed so that they would closely integrate with the Trust IM&T team and help analyse hospital data as related to BRU studies and they will be liaising closely with an established medical statistics group.

The postholder will be interacting with clinicians to develop appropriate data analysis relevant to the projects. The post will require a wide range of statistical knowledge relevant to clinical translational projects and will be part of a larger group that supports BRU activities including other statisticians, a data manager and wider support team.

The post is funded until March 2012. Applicants wishing to work either full time or part time are encouraged to apply.

For more information about this exciting opportunity or to arrange an informal visit please contact either Enrico Tambellini, Operations Manager (02380 794099), or Prof Alan Jackson, Nutrition BRU Director (023 8079 4918).
