Dear all,

It is a pleasure to present you my last book published just now. Here is the information:

Arqueozoología en el Cantábrico Oriental durante la transición Pleistoceno/Holoceno. La Cueva del Mirón. Preface by Lawrence G. Straus. University of Cantabria Press. Santander. ISBN: 978-84-8611621-7

The Cantabrian Region possesses a long archaeozoological tradition initiated in the 70s, focused mainly on paleontological studies. However, the increasing interest in human evolution and the importance that palaeoeconomic aspects would have played in it, have led to the development of methodologically important advances worldwide, the applications of which are still unpublished in this important region for the study of Cantabrian Prehistory. This book fills this gap, laying the foundations for future faunal analyses which, with the help of the methodology presented here, could progressively extend our current knowledge on the behaviour of past human groups.

In this sense, further to the development of merely descriptive and quantitative studies, this research promotes the application of actualistic taphonomy studies, ethnographic observation, mathematical modelling, statistical analysis and the analysis of spatial distribution. As a practical example of the potential of the new archaeozoological methodology, the results obtained from the Magdaleniean and Azilian levels of El Mirón Cave have been contextualised with the contemporaneous ones in Eastern Cantabria. The ultimate aim is to promote debate and the opening of new lines of archaeozoological research.
