>I was also wondering about the function of chapels in the medieval period.  Am I right in thinking that they were generally reserved for Mass, and that burial, baptism and marriage services were performed >at the parish church?  I can think of one or two cases where chapels had their own accounts (Berry Tower, Bodmin for instance).  Was this common?

Broad Blunsden, a chapelry of Highworth, Wiltshire, has accounts dating from 1606, but it’s not clear whether they kept them before the Reformation.
