Job vacancy: Trainee Information Specialist (York)

Kleijnen Systematic Reviews (KSR) Ltd is an independent research company that produces and disseminates systematic reviews and health technology assessments of research evidence in health care. KSR was established in 2005 and is based in modern offices south of Escrick, York.

As a result of expansion we are now looking to recruit a trainee Information Specialist to join our busy Information Team. You will provide information support and undertake literature searches for systematic reviews and health technology assessments of the effects of health care interventions and other health related questions. You will record and document the search process and maintain bibliographic databases of retrieved references.

 

Essential characteristics

·         Educated to degree level with a qualification in Librarianship or Information Science, or equivalent.

·         Previous experience working in a specialist health, medical library/information service setting.

·         Able to plan, organise and co-ordinate your own workload, to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities by prioritising key tasks.

 

Desirable characteristics

·         MA/MSc in Information Studies or similar.

·         Experience of literature searching using databases, such as Medline, Embase or the Cochrane Library.

 

We offer an attractive salary, and we welcome applications for both full-time and part-time work. The post holder will work as a member of Information Team, working closely and collaboratively with the Information Specialist Manager and other KSR staff both within the office and external freelancing staff. The post is based in KSR’s offices, which are located at Escrick Business Park, approximately 8 miles south of York.
