RICS Geomatics has produced a new, 5th edition 2010, guidance note on
vertical aerial photography and digital imagery.

This new international guidance note
<https://communities.rics.org/connect.ti/Wikigeo/groupHome> recognises
the shift in demand from panchromatic film and photographic products to
the use of digital cameras and sensors to capture the vertical images.
To aid industry penetration RICS Geomatics guidance and the very popular
geo client guide series are now available from WikiGeo
https://communities.rics.org/connect.ti/Wikigeo/groupHome

It aims to help anyone involved in commissioning, buying or producing
surveys and maps by outlining best practice and preventing duplication
of effort. It provides useful guidance for drawing up clear
specifications for aerial photography and digital imagery obtained
directly from digital cameras and sensors, or from analogue aerial
photography using digital scanners.

Such specifications may be prepared by the clients requesting
information or by the contractors who tender for or undertake the work.

The RICS guidance is relevant to photogrammetric mapping and digital
data collection, the production of orthophotography and digital mosaics
and environmental information-gathering and general interpretation.

Part 1 is a survey brief for completion by the client, and each section
of Part 1 has a corresponding section in Part 2 combining standard
specifications and guidelines.

At every stage, the guidance will help the contractor advise the client
on the most appropriate and effective specification for a particular
project application.

Do please feel free to distribute this new GN and to use within any
relevant aerial surveying and mapping tender documentation.

Kind regards and happy Christmas
