Intellect is pleased to announce the publication of the first issue of the second volume of the Journal of Screenwriting
This issue includes an examination of how the BBC rivalled ITV and Channel 4 in the 1970s and 80s through its competitive approach to comedy writers and writing. Other articles examine the screenplay as a literary artwork; study the relationship between the history of popular Hindi cinema and the writing of the screenplay; and analyse the importance of screenwriting in understanding institutional, sociological and nation-specific dimensions in English-Canadian films. Also included are a study of the differing approaches of contemporary screenplay manuals to defining the three-quarter point in a story; an examination of how Hollywood studios micromanage the creative process, and whether this hinders the quality of contemporary films; an interview with Christopher Vogler about his writing career in Hollywood; and a report from the Society of Cinema and Media Studies conference in LA.
