The Center for Equal Health (USF-Moffitt Transdisciplinary Center to Address Cancer Health Disparities), recently received funding to establish a Comparative Effectiveness Research for Eliminating Disparities (CERED) core.  This core will focus on the CERED categories recommended in the Congressional Report by the Federal Coordinating Council for CER: 1) Research (comparisons of the effectiveness of community education, community-based multi-level interventions, community outreach workers, health education, cultural & linguistically-sensitive disease management programs and usual care);  2) Human and Scientific Capital for CERED (training new researchers from health disparity populations to conduct CERED and developing CERED methodology); 3) Data infrastructure for CERED (development of patient databases), and 4) Dissemination and Translation of CERED (building tools and methods to disseminate CERED findings to clinicians and patients and translate CERED into practice).

CERED is the conduct and synthesis of research comparing the benefits and harms of different interventions and strategies to prevent, diagnose, treat and monitor health condtions in “real world” settings.  The purpose of CERED is to provide information that helps clinicians and patients choose which option best fits an indvidual patient’s needs and preferences.  This informaiton is essential to translating new discoveries into better health outcomes for Americans, accelerating the application of beneifical innovations, and delivering the right treatment to the right patient at the right time.

Two Post-Doctoral fellowships in CERED will be awarded and based at either Moffitt Cancer Center or USF College of Public Health, Tampa, Florida, USA.  Each Post-Doctoral fellowship is for one year with the possibility of an extension for an additional year, based on favorable reviews of first year achievements.  Preferred Post-Doctoral fellow qualifications, scope of activities within the CERED core, and desired personal attributes include:
