We have equipment and we use it!
The idea of pooling resources is a very good
one though, especially as environmental monitoring equipment is expensive.

I wonder just how many people
on this list actually have such equipment and, of those that do, how many
actually use it frequently. We have a MEACO and so far it hasn’t left
the cupboard this calendar year. Their use tends to be important when setting
up a display space (e.g. for checking the effectiveness of newly installed
UV filters) and thereafter they are largely redundant, particularly in
museums where the displays are largely permanent and don’t change on a
frequent basis. Perhaps in these tighter economic times museums should
pool their equipment? The last time I used ours was to teach a museum studies
student how they are used and to introduce her to so-called ‘best practice’
which may be a world apart from actual practice.

Hi Rosalyn
We just had the very same thing
and, after a quick survey of the market, have bought one of these:

It certainly does the job,

Hello all,
Our MEACO Lux/UV monitor has recently given
up the ghost and MEACO have informed us that they are unable to recalibrate
it so we are looking at buying a new one.
Can anyone recommend anything?

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone
had some good contacts with companies who are able to provide hardware
for the peppers Ghost projection effect - similar to that at Jorvik in
York with people projected within cases doing certain activities or speaking
to visitors. Does anyone have a company they have used recently with this
kind of technology that they would recommend for this effect - especially
for galleries that are quite tight for space.
Thanks.
Lydia
