It's hard to tell from the resolution of the photo, but I thought the hallmarks on the 1915 medal looked to be a Birmingham Assay Office anchor mark, and the sponsor's mark could be CEA, which http://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Makers/Birmingham-C.html#CE suggests could be Charles Edward Adams, though the dates don't quite match. The date letter might be lower case l for 1910, which doesn't quite fit the date on the medal though I suppose they may have been made in large batches and used over the next few years. The 1916 medal sponsor's mark could be W.A for William Adams (http://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Makers/Birmingham-W.html#WA)

None of this helps with identifying the use, of course!

Hi George,

Could it possibly be a cycling club medal?  See the link to the windows on Warwickshire website for a similar one.

Hello everyone

I’ve had an enquiry about the attached medals, awarded to Marie Suzanne Wilkinson when she was 18 /19 years old and living in the Croydon / Sydenham area.  The enquirer wants to know what they were awarded for.  She initially thought that the CGG related to Croydon Girl Guides, but Girl Guiding UK have said that they would not have awarded anything so fancy.

Our archives team are checking out whether they can identify any local organisations with the initials CGG (the C might stand for Croydon …), but I wondered if anyone could narrow down the search based on the style and type of the medals.  What might this type of medal have been awarded for at this time?

Thanks in advance.

Best

George
