Chris was

appointed

as Professor in

Women’s Health in

December 2004.

This is a joint post

with Staff ordshire

University and

the University

Hospital of North

Staff ordshire

(UHNS) and it involves clinical work,

teaching and research.



Prior to this she worked at the University

Hospital of North Staff ordshire as a

specialist clinical midwife and completed a

PhD in 2002 at Keele University. Her clinical

work involves running a ‘Perineal Care Clinic’

and teaching perineal repair skills to midwives

and doctors. The post also provides Chris

with the opportunity to participate and lead in

other areas of research and education relating

to women’s health. Over the past ten years

she has received several prestigious awards for

her research work, including two competitive

fellowships from the Iolanthe Midwifery Trust

and the Smith & Nephew Foundation.
