The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism invites you to the launch of a new Reuters Institute publication on:

‘The Changing Business of Journalism and its Implications for Democracy’

This collection, edited by David Levy and Rasmus Kleis Nielsen, looks at recent developments in the news media across 7 countries* including the impact of the internet and business and policy responses to recent trends. This study is the first attempt to take a comparative look across a range of countries at the ways in which the Internet and other changes are affecting news organisations, how they and policymakers are responding and how these trends are impacting on the democratic role traditionally performed by news organisations.

* UK, US, France, Germany, Finland, Brazil and India.

The editors will be joined by other contributors including Professor Robert Picard to present the key findings and there will be a discussion of these with a panel chaired by Tim Gardam, Ofcom Board member, with Professor George Brock, Head of the Department of Journalism at City University, Steve Hewlett, writer, broadcaster and media consultant and Professor Natalie Fenton, Professor of Media and Communications, Goldsmiths
