Thanks Chris

On the first point, I’m wondering if it was just a co-incidental set of failures of the Amazon look-up (i.e. maybe it was attempted, but not successful; rather than not being attempted). Having taken the ISBN values out of the chapter element of that record, the book jacket is – for me, right now – displaying OK.

Here’s a fresh item where the ISBN-10 is only in the ‘is part of’ element, and the jacket is displaying fine (along with the book vendor look-up)

Could the ‘is part of’ look-up fail be intermittent; or was the drop-out unrelated to the ‘part of’ element? Anyone else seeing this behaviour?

Two quick questions on the “is part of” option – which is a welcome, and useful, enhancement.

Book jackets

When adding a “Chapter” element to a “Book” record, the book-jacket look-up is not triggered (because the Chapter element does not [and should not, really] contain an ISBN; even though the “Is part of Book” element does, I’m assuming). If I add an ISBN string to the Chapter element, the book-jacket look-up is triggered – but the ISBN properly belongs to the book, not the chapter; and I don’t really want to have to repeat this element. Is this accidental or by design (because the chapter does not have its *own* image?)

See a demo example (with extra Chapter IBSN, triggering the look-up) here: http://resourcelists.ntu.ac.uk/items/FB02DDC0-626F-DA3E-63C0-B1C2F266CEE0.html

If you're having to add the ISBN to the chapter to trigger the bookjacket, that's a defect we should fix.

I'd be interested to know if the Amazon pricing drops away too when the ISBN is removed from the item above.

Authors and editors

If I bookmark the book without adding an “is part of”, all three authors/editors are displayed:

http://resourcelists.ntu.ac.uk/items/A885DB77-28D4-936A-10A2-E35B5A232362.html

However, after adding an “is part of”, only one author (and some stray punctuation) displays:

See a demo example here: http://resourcelists.ntu.ac.uk/items/FB02DDC0-626F-DA3E-63C0-B1C2F266CEE0.html

Again, is this a bug or a feature J

Again, a defect. We should fix that.

Chris

Hi everyone,

We released a new version of Aspire today. We added:

* Ability to specify "is part of". When bookmarking, it is now possible to manually add a primary item which "is part of" the actual thing being bookmarked. For example, say you are bookmarking a book fromAmazon.co.uk, but you actually want to describe a particular Chapter of that book in Aspire. Aspire brings in metadata for the book as a primary resource. Now you can select to add "is part of" from the field menu and add a Chapter (which is part of the book) in front of the book resource.

Here are some screenshots showing the process:

We also added:

* CSS body IDs on main pages. This makes it easier to style specific pages in the application

Thanks,

Chris Clarke
