Position: GIS Java Developer
Location: London
Job type: Permanent
The Developer will be a member of the Technical Delivery Team and will be able to provide support to developers using ArcGIS in both desktop and server environments. You should be expert in developing with Java in a multi-tier web environment and with RDBMS technologies. An interest in and understanding of GIS principles is essential. Any previous experience developing with ArcObjects would be considered a bonus, as would experience developing in the .NET Framework.
The initial post will require a deep understanding of Object Oriented Design and Implementation using Java and will require you to show initiative, customer-facing skills and autonomy on a client site, with remote back-up. You will have a decision-making, hands-on role in the future development of a significant existing code base and set of APIs, with a view to longer-term transition to new and emerging APIs. There will be a steep initial learning curve.
Knowledge and experience of ArcGIS Server and Desktop will give you a significant advantage. You must also have the ability to work within a team environment and have a proven background within a Java Developer role.
