Hmm, libexpat is for XML parsing and won't fix a broken 3D view. On some systems, notably SuSE, libexpat is missing or the wrong version, but in this case fslview would not run at all. I don't believe we need to look to library issues yet, particularly if there has already been some successful 3D viewing before.

Dave

Hello Venkat:

Here's something that worked for me with the 3D viewer:

Try sudo yum update libexpat.so.0

or try to update the nvidia drivers at init level 3

hope this helps,

Alan

Thanks Courtney,

I asked our computer service staff and he tried it in his PC which has different graphics card and it didn't work. Sorry I am not able to following your discussions with Dave is it for your computer. Someone (archives) mentioned that there might be problem with the library files we checked that too, do know what is really happening one time it worked and it didn't work after that.

Thanks again,

Venkat

Hi Dave,

I am using a Dell Precision 380 and a NVIDIA card. The system information
when I look up the card properties is as follows:
NVIDIA graphics card
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP, 32-bit (Service Pack 3)
Direct X version: 9.0c

Components: Quadro FX 1400
Details: Driver Version: 190.38
Memory: 128 MB
Video BIOS version 5.41.02.34.11
IRQ: 16
Bus: PCI Express x 16

I use X-Win32 to run our Linux computer and SGE cluster for FSL. To use 3D
viewer for .vtk files I just plug my monitor directly into the Linux machine
and it works fine there. It also worked on a different Windows PC that I was
temporarily using. I can get more details about the systems if you need it.
I will have to ask the systems admin the details. We have several of this
same computer that it does not work on that al have the same graphics card
and setup.

Venkat: Did the machine you tried it on have a different graphics card? You
can ask your IT staff to check. If all the problem still occurs with several
different graphics cards, then that might not be the problem.

Hope this helps,
Courtney
