Big Society: Equality and Social Justice
4.30pm - 7.30pm on Wednesday 8 December
First Asian Support Trust/CS+, Cheetham Hill, Manchester, M8 9AB
The current debate around the Big Society is diverse, with discussion
on the meaning and implications, both positive and negative. One element
that has been lacking has been the relationship between Big Society,
Social Justice and Equality. This free event will provide an opportunity
to explore and discuss some of those issues surrounding the Big Society
and the widening gap between rich and poor, and why Big Society must be
underpinned by Social justice.

Key discussion areas will include:The relationship between equality,
social justice and the Big Society.
Potential benefits of Big Society for marginalised groups.
Big Society’s relevance to local communities and equality groups.
The Equality Regulatory Framework and Big Society.
Community organising or organising communities?
Future actions on lobbying and filling gaps.
