I am happy to report that the second issue of the Alternative Spirituality and
Religion Review, which I edit, has been sent to ASRR’s online hosting service,
and that we expect this new content will be up on the recently redesigned
Academic Publishing website (www.academicpublishing.org) by or before next week.
I have included a table of contents for 1:2 plus a list of books that are in the
process of being reviewed for next year in the body of this email.
Also, if you have not already done so, PLEASE request that your institutional
library subscribe to our journal. University libraries often order or renew
journal subscriptions in November. So, particularly if you intended to do this
in the past but never managed to get around to it, November would be an ideal
time for this purpose. (ASRR's International Standard Serial Number [ISSN] is
1946-0538).
Finally, Nicole Ruskelle, Academic Publishing’s Editorial Director, has taken
over tasks such as requesting review copies from publishers. However, my task of
arranging for new reviews is still extremely time-consuming, in part because of
the explosion of new titles in our field. So in addition to notifying you about
our journal’s progress, I was also emailing you to ask that you help me arrange
for new reviews. In addition to (or in lieu of) actually volunteering to
undertake a book review yourself, you can help by identifying new (or
not-so-new) books that should be reviewed, and by identifying potential
reviewers.
