Mae 'cyllell â llafn sy'n meinhau' (neu'n blaenfeinio/pigfeinio/tapro) yn disgrifio'r math hwn o gyllell, h.y. un pen yn mynd yn raddol feinach na'r llall.

Subject: Taper-ground blades / Hollow - ground blades

Rwyf wrthi'n cyfieithu darn o waith ar wahanol fathau o gyllyll a llafnau. Nid wyf yn gallu meddwl sut i gyfieithu 'taper-ground blades' a 'hollow-ground blades':

Taper-ground blades - This is where the whole blade is machine ground and shaped from the back to the cutting edge forming a taper. The process produces a well-designed blade with an efficient cutting edge that can be easily sharpened.

Hollow-ground blades - Cheaper knives are made by machine grinding the cutting edge along the bottom of the blade. Unlike taper-grinding where the whole blade is tapered to a cutting edge, the cutting edge of a hollow-ground blade is formed only at the edge of the blade.

Buaswn yn gwerthfawrogi eich awgrymiadau - nid oeddwn yn sylweddoli bod yna cymaint o wahanol fathau o gyllyll!

                    Diolch
