Dear Surveillance People,
A new documentary film about surveillance and privacy called 'Article 12: Waking Up in a Surveillance Society' is currently doing the rounds of film festivals. This is a really excellent film (and not just because I'm in it!)... the film is being shown next at the Leeds International Film Festival in the UK, http://www.leedsfilm.com/ , which runs from 4-21 November.
The main showing will be on the 16th of November at 17:00, the venue will be at the main Victoria Hall in the Town Hall. The Victoria Hall is a huge, prestigious venue with a capacity of 1200 in total, http://www.thevirtualtours.co.uk/conference_culture/victoriahall.htm . It will also be shown on Friday 12th, at 20:15 in theHoward Assembly Rooms.

The Victoria Hall event will feature Anthony Grayling and the makers are also interested in having a semior Surveillance Studies academic from the UK as part of the discussion (they would like me to come but it's a long way from Canada...). If anyone could make it and would like to be involved, especially if you were one of those interviewed for the film, please contact me ASAP.
And for all of you who are nearby - please try to make the screening!
In the longer term, the movie will also be shown as part of the Geneva International Human Rights Film Festival in March 2011 in Switzerland (details attached), and hopefully at Hotdocs in Toronto, Canada, next year too. If you are involved with any documentary or other film festivals or know someone who is... then we'd also like you to contact us to see whether we can get a showing.
