Events Officer - Public Programmes (Secondment Cover)

A free destination for the incurably curious, Wellcome Collection provides a public face for the Trust, through an innovative programme of intelligent and experimental exhibitions and events about the science and culture of medicine. We have an exciting opportunity for a temporary Events Officer.

As Events Officer you will assist the Events Manager in developing and running the public events programme. This will include taking responsibility for researching and managing specific activities and ensuring the smooth running of events, producing audience development plans and liaising closely with a wide range of internal and external contacts. You will need to demonstrate:

*	previous experience of running public events in the arts, museums or galleries sector and/or within a science communication/public engagement environment
*	a relevant degree or equivalent training 
*	familiarity with contemporary medicine and science, especially topics of ethical and public concern
*	excellent communication skills, first-class organisational ability and an ability to rapidly develop good organisational awareness
*	the energy and enthusiasm to assist in the creation of a range of lively and well-attended science-related events.

This role is offered on a contract to cover a secondment, which we expect to run until the beginning of November 2011. Due to the nature of the work, a satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau check will be required.
