Hi Pam
There are some papers on this in maternity but you could also
look at feminists approaches and concepts of linguistic determinism.
Best wishes

Subject: Power of language
Hi,
I am interested in the power of language and the effect of
the words we use as midwives on the psychology of the pregnant and labouring
woman.
I wondered if anyone had come across any references which
may support the theory that what we say affects women.
Many thanks
