The project we did with Barts and the London Trust included a survey of women in Tower Hamlets of the experiences of women eligible to use the Barkantine Birth centre includes some women who started their labour at the Birth Centre and transferred to the Royal London Hospital, although this wasn't the main focus of the survey. We are still writing up the results of this survey, so that's why you won't find any published results yet. I am copying this to Luicia Rocca who led on this survey, even though she is a member of this list, so you can have her email address and conctact her.

Subject: Intrapartum transfer from a free-standing birth centre

Hi everyone,

I'm a midwife currently working in a free-standing birth centre in East London and am just about to start my Msc major project whereby I will be interviewing women about their experience of intrapartum transfer to hospital and how this impacted on their birth experience.

On writing up my research proposal earlier this year I found only a handful of primary research articles around this topic... most of which were focussed from home to hospital.

Does anyone know of any research/information that may be of help to me.

Many thanks in advance!

Sarah
